Los Angeles, CA — Progress Action Fund congratulates State Rep. Manny Rutinel on advancing to the general election in the race to represent Colorado’s 8th District.
Earlier this year, Progress Action Fund invested $50,000 in independent expenditures supporting Rutinel’s campaign. Through a combination of digital advertising, connected TV, streaming services, and pre-roll OLV advertising, the program reached hundreds of thousands of voters almost 2 million times. The program reached voters on a variety of platforms and websites, including Yahoo, USA Today, and Denver 9 News, the Denver NBC affiliate.

The ad pushed viewers to vote for Rutinel by using recent comments by former President Obama and his push for younger, more engaged Democrats on the ballot. Rutinel, 31, is almost 6 decades younger than Rep. Hal Rodger of KY, the current oldest member of the House.
“Rutinel understood something a lot of politicians still don’t,” said Joe Jacobson, Executive Director of Progress Action Fund. “Voters are tired of being told everything is fine when they can’t afford rent, can’t buy a home, and don’t feel like Congress is fighting for them. He ran a campaign that spoke directly to those frustrations.”
The independent expenditure campaign focused heavily on younger voters and primary voters who often decide elections.
Jacobson continued to say. “The future of this party belongs to leaders who are willing to fight for people trying to build a life, not politicians who have spent decades managing decline and calling it progress. Leaders who wake up and embrace the Rutinel and PAF vision for the future will continue to be rewarded by voters.”
